On the vibrant campus of the University of Ilorin, February 10th, 2024, marked an extraordinary event of entrepreneurship and innovation as we hosted an unprecedented conference alongside our annual on-campus pitch competition.
As unveiled earlier in January, the event was centered around the theme "INNOVATE TO ELEVATE." Pitch sessions, panel discussions, artistic performances, games, and a keynote speech by the honorable commissioner of business, technology, and innovation, Kwara State, were among the varied moments that took place during the conference.
The ten teams that were shortlisted to compete in the final challenge on the day of the event are as follows: Zenith Squad, Apex HealthTech, Smart Learn, Smart Ed Nexus, Terra Nova, Eureka, Ignite, Taste Buster, 1go Technologies, and First Fruits.
As rated by our distinguished judges, three teams stood out and placed among the top three out of the ten teams that were shortlisted to jostle for the best.
2ND RUNNER-UP
Team Fast Fruits, led by Ayomide Atolagbe, a 400-level student of mass communication, innovate sustainable packaging solutions for delivering fresh fruit, prioritizing quality preservation and environmental consciousness

1ST RUNNER-UP
Team 1Go technologies, led by Oyetoyan Peter, a 500-level student of electrical and electronic engineering, provide an exceptional ride experience through their campus bus hailing platform, offering fast, reliable, and comfortable rides to students across Nigeria

THE WINNERS
Team ApexHealthTech, winners of the 2024 on-campus challenge led by biomedical engineering student Habeeb Akinsola, aim to develop a solar-powered infant incubator code called Abiyamo. The objective of their project is to bridge the electric divide and save the lives of vulnerable individuals by addressing the shortcomings of electric-powered incubators in undeveloped countries.
